To add a new page, go to 'site content' => 'site pages' and click on the 'new page' button.
The first field on the form is called 'section'. This is so that you can organise your pages into sections and also include some pages in the navigation menu on your website, as drop-down links.
You can manage the sections by going to 'site content' => 'site sections'.
Once you have selected a section, choose an identifier. The identifier is a unique value for the page that becomes part of the web address. For this reason, it should include your most important keyword for the page and be made up only of letters and numbers with the addition of hyphens and underscores, no other special characters and no spaces.
The page name is for you to identify the page and will also appear as a link in the navigation menu, if you have set a navigation position below.
The navigation position is the order in which a page will appear in the sub-menu of the navigation on your website. I tend to use decimal values so that I can easily insert a page in-between later on. For example, the page to appear at the top position in the sub-menu will initially be given a navigation position of 10 and the page that is to be second will be given a value of 20.
To see how it works, look at the navigation menu on the left column of the CMS. A page section is a header in that menu, for example 'contacts' and 'site content' whilst a page that has been given a position number is shown in the sub-menu, like 'view contacts' and 'add a contact'.
If you do not want a page to appear in the navigation menu, keep the position at zero.
The next field is titled 'site map'. If you would like the page to be searchable, either in search engines or via a search facility on your site, select yes. For example, you would select 'yes' for a page describing a service but would select 'no' for a 'thank you' page resulting from a form submission or a shopping cart confirmation page.
Click save and you will be taken to a new screen allowing you to add more information. At this stage, the page is saved as a draft and cannot be seen on your website.
